This hat is from a restaurant that I bartended at in college. This restaurant is known as the “birthday bar.” Thousands of people visit this place every year to celebrate their birthday. I was fortunate enough in college to work here for some of my very formative years. It was the most fun job I have ever had. I celebrated birthdays with hundreds of people, both regular and famous. The energy, positivity, and atmosphere is second to none. The walls are covered with photographs of families, friends, and famous people celebrating their birthdays. Someday, maybe Luke can get on the wall of fame.
This hat represents a spot that has everything that is great in life. Family, friends, fun, and faith. Every time I wear the hat (yes, it is my regular rotation), it reminds me how special this place and this hat are to me. 30 years later, my daughter now attends the University of Wisconsin and frequents the Nitty Gritty the same way I did at her age. Giving up this hat is worth it for Luke’s wall!
