2 years ago, Gregg Allen, drummer for Drew Parker, signed his hat and gave it to me at a show. We were at the show celebrating my birthday. The hat came out of retirement at the 2024 CMA Fest. My youngest, 17, wanted to wear it to support Drew and the band. It was Hail’s first time in Nashville, our first time at CMA Fest. We had been estranged for a year, my child and me. It was a rough, heart-breaking year for us both, but so thankful we are reconnecting. They don’t like country music at all. In saying that, they adore Drew Parker. I was elated, excited, so pumped when they agreed to go on this trip to Nashville with me. This was the 1st time in a year that we spent more than a few hours together at a time. I was so afraid they would back out, but they didn’t. We went, just the 2 of us, and it was amazing. No hiccups in the trip. It went so well, we extended it and stopped in Somerset, Kentucky, for a couple days on our way home. We have been talking every day since. It’s so good to have my kid back.
