In 2004, I had a pivotal choice in putting all the chips in on growing my own brand or doing a franchise for a larger corporate entity. I was developing both in parallel, and the LLC was even the name I had the independent one started, 1912. I wound up going the franchise route for 19+ years, only to be given a lesson I’ve always known – loyalty and trust matter.
At 56, my original dream has come full circle, and my wife and I are putting all the chips back on the table with the 2004 vision of 1912. It’s called 1912 because I’m passionate about home, Arizona! Arizona became a state on Valentine’s Day in 1912, and now my Valentine and I get to build a business together with that copper 1912 and an Arizona spirit at the forefront. It’s copper because it’s one of what we call our 5 C’s, the things that have made Arizona what it is today: cotton, cattle, citrus, climate and copper. Our tagline is “TERRITORIAL ABOUT REAL ESTATE.”
